Welcome to Rock'n R
We hope your New year is filled with blessings and gifts of the spirit. Please, share your holidays with family and friends. There is no greater gift. From Rock'n R, we wish you peace.
Thanks for visiting the Rock'n R Farm website. We are located in northern Niagara county, nestled between the shore of Lake Ontario and the Niagara escarpment. Niagara Falls, one of the natural wonders of the world, is just a short drive away. Niagara county is also the home of many small locally owned wineries, and farms supported by a climate favorable to growing grapes, apples, and peaches. There are many wine tours, and tastings along the Niagara Wine trail. (Mar-Jim Manor was featured in an episode of Ghosthunters.)
On top of the escarpment, is Schimshacks restaurant. This is were Marilyn Monroe, and Joe DiMaggio would meet and dine during the filming of "Niagara". The views from the dining room are awesome. The French onion soup, and hot bacon salad dressing are fantastic!
Niagara county was a strategic location through out history. The government that held control of the mouth of the Niagara river, controlled shipping to the interior "wilderness". At different points in history the Niagara frontier was controlled by the Native American indians, the French, the British, and the U.S. The historic Erie canal, and locks were also significant to trading and shipments.
Niagara county was the last stop on the underground railroad, and the final step to freedom for hundreds of slaves during the civil war. Many slaves made their way to Canada by crossing the border at the Whirlpool bridge.
Old Fort Niagara is located in our little community. The fort is over 300 years old, and was an operational U.S. military base until the early 1960's. The fort features a centuries old "French Castle".

Our Story
We started our hobby farm adventure in July 2008. Over the next few years we learned so much! We began with a horse, a POA (Pony of America), 2 bulldogs, and a cat. We now have 3 horses, 1 POA, 3 dogs, 3 cats, and a hen house full of egg layers of all types. We are proud of our growing farm adventure, yet nothing can compare to the pride and joy we feel when our friends, our family, children and grandchildren visit to help and enjoy the simple things. We have made so many great memories and are always embarking on new adventures. We receive requests for updates, so we decided to create this website.
We would like to provide you with information about the healthful benefits of pastured eggs. It is important to understand there are differences in the quality of pastured eggs vs commercial eggs. It might also surprise you that free range eggs might not be what you think . We have an FAQ page to answer any concerns, and help clarify.
Even if you are pleased with the products in your local supermarket, we encourage you to visit your local farmer, or farm market. Help support a vanishing national breed, the independant farmer and stimulate your local economy.
Regardless of where you purchase your eggs, we hope the information we provide will help you understand that all eggs are not created equal.
Please enjoy exploring our site and come back again. Check back often as we continually update our site.
-Bob and Chris
